ロバート・F・ケネディが暗殺されてから40年、その年にこの書籍は出版された。写真家のポール・フスコは雑誌[Look]の仕事としてケネディの葬儀を記録する写真を担当した。ケネディの棺を乗せた電車がアメリカを横断していく、その線路沿いに集まった人々の姿を撮り収めたこの記録は、ドキュメンタリーとしてだけでなく写真作品としても高い評価をされ、書籍として出版されていたが、長らく絶版になっていた。この本はアメリカ議会図書館に所蔵されていたLookのコレクションから新たな写真70枚を加え、2008年に出版された。
