この本はカール・ラガーフェルドとカリーヌ・ロワトフェルドによる、シャネルのアイコンとなっている小さな黒いジャケットの再解釈を見せている。ラガーフェルドはこのジャケットを、モダンで、年や性別を関係なく着る事ができるようにデザインし直した。この本はラガーフェルドによる撮影、ロワトフェルドによるスタイリングで各界のセレブリティたちがこのジャケットを纏っている写真を収めている。モデルたちはそれぞれの個性を放ちつつも、そのスタイルはあるときはクラシカル、あるときは未来的だがその世界観は常に「シャネル」であり、時代を超えたシャネルの多様性が写されている。
