「良い写真はアイデアから生まれたものではない。観察から生まれたものだ。」 Robert Adams

Orri Jónssonはある夏の休暇中、アイスランドの北にある廃墟となった農家に偶然出くわしたことから、そこで写真を撮って過ごした。出来上がった写真を非常に気に入ったものの、使用していた35mmフィルムの限界に落胆し、今度は大判アナログカメラを引提げて再来した。それから12年間、Orriはアイスランド中の無人の家内を撮影しており、今回出版されるInteriorsは1999年から2010年の間に撮られた写真の中から厳選した作品を収録している。これらの写真には、長い間捨て去られていた家にかつて住んでいた住人たちの個人的歴史が写し出されている。室内は不気味な静けさや喪失感で満ちており、特に古いボタン、新聞、湯たんぽなど、かつてそこに居たであろう人々の暮らしから取り残されたもは何かを心に強く訴えかける。
