T.O.P. (‘Turn On Planning’) オフィスが創業した1970年代以降、ベルギーの建築家でアーティストのリュック・デリュー(1944年生まれ)はアーバニズムへの批評的・社会学的・生態学的なアプローチに取り組んでいて、それを[orbanism]と名付けている。環境汚染・人口過剰・食料生産・個人とコミュニティのあいだでの抗争といった現代の関心ごとを事前に読んで対処する、エコ中心のグローバルなアーバニズム。
この本では、「建築」「模倣」「描写」「彫刻」「縮尺」「可動性」「マニフェスト」の7項目によって定義されるコンセプチュアルな地形を通じてデリューの取り組みや経験をたどる。各項目は7名の著者と7名のアーティストによる批評的なテキストやビジュアルエッセイとして扱われるだろう。
