『Best Dutch Book Design 2010』

中国では毎年1500万人が地方から都市へと移り住んでいるという。これは2015年までに中国人口の大半が都市部に住んでいることになる計算だ。
『Shanghai New Towns』は、上海周辺に位置する地方の急激な都市化をドキュメントし分析する。この都市の分散化は、ロシアや西ヨーロッパの過去の事例をモデルとしており、西欧のデザイナーたちが卓上で発展させた構想を中国風に順応化したものだ。
本書はこの構想が実現化された過程を収録している。プロジェクトに関する中国と西欧双方の都市や記述、写真やエッセイを通して日常生活は如何様か、また新しく建設された都市はどのように機能しているのかを見る事ができる。
